Nothing can be nicer than having a romantic meal in the Hamptons. The Hamptons is an upscale community on Long Island, New York that caters to the cr?me de le cr?me of society. Book a table at one of the Hampton's restaurants and you are pretty much guaranteed a delicious dinner, romantic ambiance and may even have the privilege of dining with some notable guests. Many celebrities and other notable personalities make the Hamptons there summer home and you never know who you are going to see when you dine out.

One restaurant in this charming community that you will not want to pass up is the restaurant in the American Hotel located in Sag Harbor. The American Hotel restaurant spells romance as it features Victorian style, intimate dining rooms, chandeliers throughout and the largest wine list in The Hamptons. In fact, the wine list is so long, that it comes in a leather-bound book and is quite extensive. And the prices for even vintage selections are quite reasonable.

The food menu is also quite extensive and features some of the best seafood in the quaint, historic community. One dish I recommend is the Brock Island crab cocktail, which is simply the best I've ever had. The roasted duck with orange ginger glaze is also a fabulous entree choice. The dessert cart is filled with many delectable sweets guaranteed to tempt any taste buds and are a pleasant way to end your fabulous meal. The American Hotel restaurant is a bit pricey, but well worth the money.

The service is excellent in The American Hotel restaurant. Diners are treated like old friends. The staff is prompt and accommodating and we did not have to wait long at all for a table. If you want a superb meal in a charming atmosphere, do not miss dining at the American Hotel Restaurant.

The Coast Grill in Southhampton has an open and "by the sea" atmosphere. It is also very family-friendly, which makes it the perfect restaurant to visit when you are staying at the Hamptons with children. For starters, I recommend Oysters Rockefeller – the Coast Grill makes this dish better than anywhere else. All of the seafood is extremely fresh and the menu revolves around what is fresh for the day. When I visited, I had lobster, my perennial favorite – and was far from being disappointed. There is also a large wine list and a child's menu for the young people, although you can always ask for a plate and share with them if they are very small. The service at The Coast Grill was excellent and our server was very accommodating, especially to our children. The Coast Grill is a "must" if you are visiting Southhampton.

When staying near do not miss dining at Almond. This restaurant offers a light French fare with some of the best seafood you can imagine. Almond is a fun restaurant and very popular with the younger crowd as it is both lively and entertaining. Music plays throughout and the owner, Eric, rotates around the tables and greets each guest as if they are old friends. He's loud and funny and really makes you feel at home. The service is also the best in the Hamptons as everyone, even the servers, seem to be having a good time. The atmosphere is catching and you will find yourself laughing and enjoying yourself even before you taste the delicious food.

I recommend the mussels as they were cooked differently than I've had in other restaurants. Just a hint of garlic and very delectable. Children are welcome in this restaurant and there are hamburgers ready to appease them. One of the nicest entrees on the menue is the croque monsieur. This is not a gourmet restaurant, but lite French cuisine and is really very good. There is a full bar, a nice wine list and some fabulous desserts to top off your meal, including some of the best cheesecake you will ever eat.

The Hamptons are the ultimate vacation destination. Here you can have just about everything – from fine culture, quaint shops, charming accommodations and some of the best food you will have on the East Coast. For a truly upscale holiday, visit The Hamptons on Long Island, New York.
