Antiques hunters should visit Eastport, The Hamptons, New York, for some of the finest antique shops in the Hamptons. Eastport is one of the smaller villages that encompass the upscale, charming community of the Hamptons located on New York's Long Island. If you are looking for the best antique bargains in the community, come to Eastport.

Eastport was not always the Antiques Capital of the Hamptons. Beginning in the early 19th century, Eastport was known as "the duck capital of the world." The reason for this was because of all of the commercial duck farms that were scattered throughout the tiny village. By the early 1900s, Eastport was producing more than six million ducks for consumption in the marketplace.

The Hamptons, New York, is an upscale community located on Long Island, New York. It is the playground for the rich and famous as many celebrities take to the Hamptons for their quaint shops, peaceful villages and fabulous beaches. The Hamptons first emerged as a seafront resort in the 1800s and has been going strong ever since. Anyone who is anyone on the New York social registry either vacations in the Hamptons or owns a home in this beautiful community.

One of the most lovely things about visiting Eastport is the place many people go to get away from the constraints of the modern world. Stepping onto the main street in this charming village and you will feel that you've gone back in time to a simpler era. Although the ducks are no longer in production for the marketplace in Eastport, there are several lily ponds throughout the community where the creatures congregate and villagers feed them. In addition to the lovely lily ponds, there are many different walking trails where one can truly enjoy nature at its finest.

Accommodations in Eastport can be found in many of the quaint bed and breakfast establishments located throughout the village. Most of these charming inns are located in old homes, renovated with modern conveniences, but still with their original charm.

For a truly peaceful holiday, take a walk down main street and browse in the numerous antiques shops for a special pieces for your home, or simply to window shop. The clerks and owners of the shops are very helpful and seem to know all of the history behind some of their remarkable pieces.

Stay at a charming bed and breakfast where you can experience 19th century atmosphere with modern, 21st century conveniences. Nothing could be more romantic. Restaurants are scattered throughout the community and offer some of the best seafood to ever touch your palate. You'll marvel at the freshness of the food and the expertise of the chefs in these fine restaurants.
